Pench-I (Augmentation & Upgradation of Pench-I UTP of Nagpur city)

Preamble
- Nagpur, the second capital of Maharashtra, having Present Population 23.50 Million.
- Total Quantum of Water Treated at Five WTPs in Nagpur is 490 MLD.
- Pench-1 WTP, commissioned 1982 was design for 113.50 MLD Cap.
- Condition of this WTP is degrading day by day and efficiency of the plant is also gets reduce.
- Hence Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has taken up the Augmentation & Up-gradation of this plant.
- The plant is now upgraded to 136 MLD capacity.

Objectives of Project
- Renovation & Up-gradation WYP Component to Increase Its Serviceability.
- Upgrading the Plant from 113.5 to 136 MLD capacity with minimum modification in existing component of plant.
- Increase the operational efficiency by renovation / replacement of non operating equipments.
- Recycling of Filter Backwash water.

Project Financing
- Estimated project cost Rs. 641.35 Lakhs
- NMC’s Contribution In project Rs. 400.00 Lakhs
- Contractor’s Contribution Rs. 241.35 Lakhs
- Repayment of Contractor’s Contribution will be made in 60 Equated Monthly Installment with accepted Rate of Return as 6%.

Project Contracting & Implementation
- The Project is approved by JNNURM.
- Project is undertaken as PPP Model with 30% Cost Share of ULB from Operator.
- Project is implemented on the Basis of Design, Built, Finance & Operate (DBFO) Contract.
- Contractor who carries out renovation & up-gradation will have to operate & maintained the plant for 5 years after construction.

Project Benefits
- Additional treated water of 22.5 MLD is available to city with marginal renovation to existing system.
- Recovery of @ 7.0 MLD of Backwash water.
- Reduction In energy consumption from 285Kwh/ MLD to 225KWH/MLd.
- Project is implemented without affecting the present treated water supply city.
