Water demand by 2011 will be 532 Mld.
Water losses in canal ranges from 100-225 Mld.
Augmentation to water supply of Nagpur city to meet the demand of newly developed area.

Lifting water from Pench Reservoir & conveying upto Mahadula by mortor lined MS pipeline in Lieu of Canal.

Construction of Head Works at Pench Dam.
Transportation of raw water from Pench Dam to Mahadula through 2300 mm dia, MS Pipeline.

Conveyance water from Mahadula to WTP at Godhani and further conveyance to MBR at Governor House.

Project Benefits
Annual saving to NMC in raw water tariff @ Rs.8.70 crores.
Annual energy saving to NMC @ Rs. 0.90 crore.
Due to conveyance of water through pipeline, instead of previously through open canal saving in quantum of water by 20-25%.
Availability of additional water for Irrigation & Drinking to meet the NMC water demand upto 2015.
Time availability for canal maintenance will improve irrigation efficiency.
