The Nagupr City has been selected as a pilot project under USAID’s (United Stage Agency for International Development) for reuse of water.

PA Consultancy Delhi Working for USAID has appointed Dinesh Rathi Associates (DRA), Nagpur as associat Power generation etc., which will reduce the stress on existing resources, reduce pollution and make available more fresh water for Potable needs in around the Nagpur city.

The purpose of study is to develop a water reuse and water swap management strategy for the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) with beneficial use of treated waste water for Non potable application in city, for irrid\gation, Power generation etc., which will reduce the stress on wxisting resources, reduce pollution an dmake available more fresh water for Potable needs in around the Nagpur city.

Present Sewerage System: -

The Nagpur City Spread over 217.56 SqKm is divided into three Sewerage Zones namely, North, Central, South, Present Swage generation capacity (80% of water supply) is 100, 180, & 100 mld respectively treated@ Existing Bhandewadi STP having 100 mil design capacity.

While drawing water for Pench canal 20-30% of water is lost through leakages. There is also saving in water tariff, if lifted from dam. Hence NMC has undertaken a project namely Nagpur City W. S. S. Pench –IV to transport 315 mld (in Phase-1) water from Pench Dam to Mahadula in closed conduit & remaining descharge through parallel pipe line in phase –2, Water for this junction is further supplied to city through existing & proposed system

The consultancy work of this project is awarded to Shah Technical Consultant (STC), Mumbai in association with Dinesh Rathi & Associates (DRA) Nagpur

Scope of Consultancy Services:

1) Preparing Detailed Project Rrport (DPR)

• Review of existing water supply scheme,
• Data Collection, Surveys, investigations, Hydraulic & structural designs and preparation of detailed plans    and estimates for various components of the project.
• Environmental and Social Assessment Report, Sustainability and Risk Management Plant etc.
• Assist NMC in obtaining Technical and Administrative approval to the DPR.
• Extending support to NMC for getting loan from funding agencies like World Bank, ADB, NABARD, etc.

2) Preparation of Tender Documents and Bid Evaluation

3) Technical Advisory Support / Clarifications / Correction in Design, Drawing during execution of Project.

The major components to be covered by the DPR are as follows:

  • Surveys and soil investigation
  • Head works at Dam
  • Pumping stations & Sub station
  • Water Treatment Plant
  • Trans. System Raw & Pure Water
  • ESR’s Water Distribution System
  • SCADA system

The Submission of the detailed project report is divides in four parts :

Part- 1

Lifting Water at Pench Reservoir and conveying it upto Mahadula.

Part – 2

Conveyance of Water From Mahadula to WTP At Godhani, Treatment and further Conveyance Upto MBR

Part – 3

Transmission of Water from MBR’s to Ext. & Prop. ESR’s, including E.S.R.

Part – 4

Distribution Systems

DPR Part-1, 2 & 3 has been submitted to NMC. Part-1, report is technically scrutinized by Maharashtra Jeevan Pradikarn (MJP) and further submitted to Govt. of Maharashtra for Administrative approval & Govt. Aid. Report is also submitted to World Bank for financial assistance.

Thane is located 43 km. North of Mumbai on the western coast of India. Water Supply to Thane City is 362 Mld from different sources. Thane city is 362 Mld from different sources. The Thane Municipal Corporation, Thane (T|MC) manages water supply within the corporation area, which is about 147 sq. km. The increasing demand of fresh water due to growing population and the large volume of UFW (Unaccounted for Water) / |NRW (Nom Revenue Water ) has forced T|MC to conduct Water Audit under Water Supply & Sanitation Dept., Govt. of Maharashtra vide circular no. Na.Pa.Pu-1000/pra.Kra. 419/Pa.Pu.22, Dt. 27/09/2000

TMC has conducted Water & Energy Audit for 100 Mld water supply scheme from total of 362 mld. Dinesh Rathi & Associates (DRA) has conducted the water & Energy Audit.

The Scope of Work is as follows

• Study and and Analysis of existing Water supply Scheme, including Head –works at various locations, pumping machineries, rising mains, water treatment plants, pure water pumping machinery plants, Pure Water Pumping Machinery, ESRs, distribution network, water connections, etc. for preparation of Pre-feasibility Report (PFR)

The DPR be prepared on the basis of PFR approved by the state Government after detailed verification all components of water supply scheme including detailed investigation of all head –works, Pimping machineries, rising mains, water treatment plans, pure water pumping machinery, ESTs, Distribution network, water connections, and to carryout Water Audit and Energy Audit.

The indentification of sports of leakages and suggest the measures to restrict and reduce the water leakages from the network. To suggest the measures for energy conservation To Suggest the measures for efficient utilization of various components included in the water supply system and such other details as per the requirement of Stage Govt. from time to time.

• To assist the Thane Municipal Corporation in getting DPR Approved from Govt. of Maharashtra To attend the meetings in the regard.
